Las Marías

Reinventing bentwood techniques

The brief

Mexico is well known for their impressive wood-working techniques, the rustic design style is predominant across the country and its a direct result of our past; but Mexico is more than one style, it is a country full of folklore, intrepid, vivid and unique. The time has come to apply all this expertise and create something unique that reflects how much Mexico has changed.

The approach

Every culture has beautiful details hidden in the deeps of its culture, each one of these details are transmitted from generation to generation, sometimes creating knowledge. The Marias hairstyle is an art that has been present since long time in our cultural backgrounds, a geometric reference that can be part of an icon.

The solution

The Marias tables reflect the folklore of a culture, intertwined laminated wood resembling a hair braid give the object a playful character. It was developed from a single laminar pattern that allows to optimize the raw material, creating a sustainable and responsible production. Made of engineered wood and designed to be focused on the production processes that create this beautiful object.
